My personal vision is that LibreCAD will be a 2D CAD tool for anybody that cannot shell out the $$$ for a paid CAD tool.
For example we have user from Africa and China, and I have received personal thank you mails they they
are happy that there is a 2D CAD tool that's free and open source.
What "extra" features will you bring in?
I am sure this was not a personal question, so I will speak for the community.
I think the biggest 'feature' LibreCAD will bring is that it's a community project,
we are accepting patches from the community and frequently pull requests
are merged into master when they are coded correctly and benefit LibreCAD generally.
LibreCAD's codebase is compilable on Windows, OSX and linux without modifications to
any of the sources (in master this might not always be true, but for releases this is a requirement).
which is a big plus in comparison to the old QCAd CE code.
Where will your funding come from?
We accept donations which pays the bill for the hosting of the blog, the website, the translations server.
and - can it be used for Commercial work or for just Home use?
It's license according to GPLv2, so you can do whatever you want with it as long as you stick to the GPLv2 license.
That means, you can use it for work, and for home. You can even create a business around it, however,
when you sell LibreCAD to your clients with your modifications,
you are obligated to give them the source when they ask for it (or just give it right away….)
