Grid not showing

I am a new user and also new to CAD so forgive me if I sound stupid. I am trying a new drawing but the grid lines appear to have disappeared even though they were there when I did a drawing following a tutorial. In preferences I have ticked the box “show grid”. Please can someone advise me where I have gone wrong?

I am running Version 2.1.3 on an Apple MacBook Air using OS Big Sur.

Had checked Grid before posting, only post that appeared to have any direct relevance was where the lines were there but not clear, as far as I can make out I do no appear to have any lines at all.
