Grid on picture

Hello everyone.

I'm just starting to use LibreCad and I'm facing some difficulties.

Namely, I am trying to draw over an image I just imported. Even if the background of this image is transparent, I'm unable to see the grid, which would help me drawing.

Is there any way of seeing the grid over a picture?

Hi, thanks for your help.

I just tried that option, but when I activated it, the image simply disappears, and I am, thus, able to see the grid.

The thing is that I would prefer to see it and the grid at the same time... Is that possible?

Hi Luís,

Off topic: acento en la 'í', eres catalán?

I made a test, with 2.0 and master branch and in both the grid are sown. Attached the test image
catastro.png

Notes:
Image are in png format,
background are transparent and
Have a alfa chanel.

Tip:
Enable "snap to grid" and select a drawing command, the cursor can be moved only for grid points.

Hi Dongxu,

I do not like the grid and never use it. I prefer the coordinate display and keyboard.

About grid, maybe it should always be on top of everything, images, very thick lines, etc.

My proposal:
Open a thread with a survey to know the opinion of the majority of users

See this screenshot of AutoCAD, grid are always on top of image and thick line.

Hello.

In my opinion, it does in fact make sense to have the grid on top of everything. If you decide to make the survey, please tell me and I will vote favorably.

I have, in the meantime, found a way to do what I want: I import a picture with a transparent background, and I set the application's background to white...

An idea: https://github.com/LibreCAD/LibreCAD/issues/584

One thing you can do now is:
- create a new layer
- create a line at the bottom of the image using snap endpoints
- Modify → Move / Copy
- use one of the line's endpoints as the reference point
- use the relative point syntax: @0,100 for the target point
- pick how many copies you want
- do something similar for the left side of the image, and use: @100,0

Then you can use snap to intersection;
and you can toggle the visibility of the layer when needed.
