Can someone explain what the word snap means?  I am only familiar with its musical meaning.  There's a whole menu on snapping, whatever it is.  The whole program is a bewilderment because of technical terms like this that are unexplained.

With snap the cursor snaps in, locks exactly to a certain point to ensure you are not a tad off from it. With CAD utmost precision is necessary, otherwise you get into trouble.
Still it is advisable to have "Free Snap" on additionally, so you can move the cursor around freely, it will only snap in if you are in the vicinity of the target point.
