How to preserve colors between layers

Hello,
I am quite new to CAD.  I'd like to move objects between layers and preserve their original colors but I can't.  They are converted to base base color seting at the targeted layer .  Any tricks?  Regards.

Color of entities can be changed individually, and it does not have to be "By Layer".

Try main menu: Modify -> Attributes

Select your entities;
Accept to Continue;
Modify Color in the dialog.
