Using LibreCAD on ubuntu 11.10 and wish to use symbol libraries for electrical drawings. The import menu doesn't show options and this is how I think I have to get DWG files to use as blocks. Very new to this and I am hoping to create schematics for machine control. I am having a hard time finding blocks for switches, relays etcetera. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

There are some technical (and legal) stuff still to be settled in order to get LibreCAD to import DWG. See: http://libregraphicsworld.org/blog/entry/whats-up-with-dwg-adoption-in-free-software You may be interested in trying the version 2.0 alphas, available from here: https://code.launchpad.net/~librecad-dev/+archive/librecad-daily Those packages don't have DWG support yet, but the PPA will be the first place it is found whenever DWG support gets in. They do have lots of new features, but also a higher possibility of bugs. ~Scott |

I did got a update on this,
we can use LibreDWG through our plugin interface because then LibreCAD and LibreDWG don't share data with different license AND LibreCAD will not call LibreDWG and visa versa. Regards, Ries van Twisk On Feb 11, 2012, at 5:50 PM, showard314 [via LibreCAD] wrote: Hi Bill, ... [show rest of quote] |

This may help, but you will need to convert them first to DXF 2000 -then they will open up in LibreCAD:
