LibreCAD Gear plugin

I'm on Ubuntu 18.04, just installed libreCAD from
ppa:librecad-dev/librecad-daily

launch libreCAD reports

Version: 2.2.0-alpha
Compiler: GNU GCC 7.3.0
Compiled on: Jun 18 2018
Qt Version: 5.9.5
Boost Version: 1.65.1

I hoped to get the gear plugin, but I cannot find it in plugins.
Do I need to do some additional tasks in order to give the gear plugin a try?

As the version you use is alpha, as you write, it might not yet have the gears plugin. Current version has RC status. Sorry not to be able to help more.

You need to get a more recent candidate release by building from source.
