Lines being drawn do no show up.

Using the very clear techniques picked up from Users manual 2.0, I will be drawing a part , feeling very good about my new skill,  when, for no discernible reason, lines I am drawing stop showing up on the screen!  BUMMER.  So far, I am unable to see what I am doing wrong.  Can someone suggest what is happening?

Please try to upload a test case dxf file, and supply all relevant information to help troubleshooting.

Thanks for the reply.
I have been experimenting to try and figure out why this happens. I find it is dependent on what is selected under the snap command.  So far I am unable to see the logic.  Can someone explain the "rules" involved here.
