Print is coming out blank

Mike Pitch
Hi Admin,

Can you help please. I am trying to print a drawing and the preview is fine and I am printing from the preview and the printer spits out a blank piece of paper. I can print other drawings fine. I have checked the options > drawing Preferences and all looks good. Printing is on for all layers, line size is OK. I can't see what I have done wrong for this drawing. Please help.

File attached for help: Router_Base.dxf

Thanks.

@dellus,

OK thanks for trying, I have overcome the problem by creating a new drawing and copying the body of the original drawing to the new file and then re-applying the Block (drawing title block and boarder). The new file printed perfectly after that.

Thanks

@Mike

In the previous thread, there was talk about 0mm line widths, but I've never had any problems printing PDFs with 0mm line widths until today when I got a completely blank PDF. I first tried increasing all line widths to 0.18, but still a blank PDF. Then I did what you suggested and copied the contents [Ctrl-A] to a new blank drawing and it fixed the printing issue too.

Thanks for posting the solution - I was about to redraw the whole darn thing!

Been playing with this phenomenon this afternoon and I think I have the solution:

A little background, I have two templates for 'blank_in' and 'blank_mm' to set up the paper size and units.

1. Open either template and draw a rectangle on any layer
2. Go to print preview
3. Print using [Microsoft Print to PDF]  >>  pop-up asks to apply margins >> [no]
4. Enter a name for the file
5. Result a blank PDF
6. Back in Print Preview, uncheck the dimension [fixed] box
7. Select [Fit to Page]
8. Print using [Microsoft Print to PDF]  >>  pop-up asks to apply margins >> [no]
9. Result a printed drawing as expected
10. Go back to Print Preview and manually enter "1:1" and select the [fixed] box
11. Printing results in a blank page

My personal problem earlier today was caused because when I imported my border onto my blank_mm template (A3), everything just happened to be 1:1 and the drawing filled the preview screen. I didn't go through steps of unchecking [fixed] and [Fit to Page] as I normally do. Result was a blank PDF.

Hope this helps someone.
Chris

Thanks for the feedback. I believe you have cracked it. My Drg was fine (test prints) until I imported the A4 block (title Block & Boarder) then... No Print. I didn't think to check the scale as it also was 1/1.

If this happens again I will employ your solution.

I, like you, was very close to starting from scratch. Thanks for your input.

Mike.
