It seems like switching to version 2.2.0 is the in thing to do but when I try I am lost. I can download the Github page but I don't know how to go from there. I'm from the dark ages where we are use to looking for an .exe file or the word start. Is there an easier way to upgrade to the newer version or more directions on how to do it? My version is years old because I never took the time to learn it before. Now that I am, I really am liking the program.

I understand https://docs.librecad.org/en/2.2.0_a/getstart/index.html is not clear enough for upgrades.
Which OS version are you using? I am using Windows 11 and I do not understand about the 32 bit vs. 64 bit. I am sure there is a way for me to look and see which I am using but I don't know how .

I learned how to find out what I am running and it is Windows 11 with a 64 bit processor.

I gather that I can download the version I need using this line from the chart above. But how do I use this ?
LibreCAD-v2.2.1.3-12-gd1ca469c9-win64-msvc.exe Windows (64-bit) Where do I copy and paste it to execute the download? |

1. Click on the link in https://github.com/LibreCAD/LibreCAD/releases and download the install file.
2. Click on the file in the download folder and it will run the install. |

I thank you for your patience. Imagine a 75 year old guy, long retired from the computer world and basically reading emails and writing a few letters; imagine that guy being introduced to new concepts like Changelogs and Githubs and the world of writing code for the first time. It is scary but that is where I find myself. I tried to do what flywire said but when I click on the link I see a screen for release v2.2.1.4 but for the life of me, I cannot see where to download the install file. I know what to do after that except how do I exchange the new version for the ancient version I have loaded now?

Don't worry. The lastest stable builds :
https://github.com/LibreCAD/LibreCAD/releases/tag/2.2.1-latest Choose the installer for your computer, probably win64, or Intel Mac OS (arm64, for newer). If you get a warning about untrusted software triggered by the installer, that's because we are not paying the $100 yearly fees to Microsoft or apple, just trust the installer and force it to install or run. Feel free to ask for help here, if needed.

I clicked on the line with Win64 and downloaded it. When I clicked on the downloaded file it had a window that said it may contain Malware. When I tried to run it, I had that very familiar blue window pop up in the middle of the screen that said "Windows protected your PC". It said "Don't run" at the bottom right. Can I trust it?

Click "More info" on the SmartScreen prompt, then "Run anyway"—this is routine for open-source tools without Microsoft signing

I did that and installed the new version successfully. Should I go to Control Panel Programs and uninstall the old version now? And I thought the new version would look different from the old version but unless I am wrong, I can't tell them apart. By the way, I want to turn my snap point markers on, which I believe the new version allows. How do I do that?

You can verify the version by the ‘about’ menu
2.2.1.4 contains only a few bug fixes on top of 2.2.1.3, so not much difference in appearance
