Text not showing

I'm really frustrated.   I drew the plans for minor building remodel.   I have to label the HVAC and ADA Restroom.  I click on the "A" icon to insert text.  I fill out the text box: amiri-regular, 2.0, Default line spacing (checked), alignment (top left), insert symbol (diameter) Insert unicode (basic latin), char (0).   When I click ok, the curser turns to the cross hair, but doesn't draw a box when dragged to the proper size in the text area.   I am not in draft mode.   The draft icon is not highlighted.  Why won't the cross hair draw a text box?

Thanks for any help.  (I've checked several manuals and none say what to do.)

Sounds like you didn't enter the text in the text box.

You have to enter the text in the "Text:" field before clicking OK. Then the cross hair cursor has a box attached, in the size of the text and any left click places the text in the drawing.
There is also a "Text" field in the Tool Options bar, where you can enter or change the text while the tool is avtive.
See https://docs.librecad.org/en/2.2.0_a/ref/tools.html#others

To change the text after it is placed use the Properties tool. The Text window appear where you can change the text and its apperiance.

Otherwise the text size might be too small. Try with different height, e.g. 20 or even 200, just to see if it change anything.
Also Auto Zoom can help to find the text if it is too small.

THANK  YOU.    I set the box size to 300 and the text was perfect size.    Now if I could just get the proper dimensions to show.      I drew the remodel plans so the distance between two tick marks is 1'.   I have set "architectural" length format.  General scale 1.   Now when I dimension a 30.5' wall,  LC spits out a length of 2544' 0".     How did LC come up with 2544' when I meant it to be 30.5?    It must be a scale issue that I'm not able to configure properly.   Any help is certainly big-time appreciated.
