Using Templates in LibreCAD - new

There is a topic with the same name, but old enough for non accepting replies.

If you use only one template (at least for most of the drawings)
Go to Edit->Application preferences select tab "Paths" and in field
called "Template" add the full path to file ( or use the button in the right)
With File->New... you select a dxf template and
with File->New the dxf file in the Template field are load automatically


At LibreCAD Version: 1.0.1, SCM Revision: 1.0.0, Compiled on: Feb 21 2012, the one I have (is it the latest?),
the options at Edit/AppPrefs/paths are different. There are:
Translations
Hatch patterns
Fonts
Scripts
Part Libraries.

So, where saving templates and/or blocks?

Ubuntu 12.04

Lançamento 12.04 (precise) 32-bit
Kernel Linux 3.2.0-60-generic
GNOME 3.4.2

Open the terminal and type -

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:librecad-dev/librecad-daily

after you have added the PPA type the following -

First type  sudo apt-get update and hit enter

Now type - sudo apt-get upgrade and hit enter

This should upgrade your LibreCAD to the latest daily build.

*It is quite safe to trust adding this LibreCAD PPA source!



   
   

I prefer stable versions, so I have chosen and installed LibreCAD via Ubuntu Software Center, where I found now the following information:

Version: librecad 1.0.1+nolibs-2
Size: 4,4 MB on disk
Open license (Código aberto)
Canonical do not hold actualizations for LibreCAD. Some actualizations may be given by the Ubuntu community. (Canonical não fornece atualizações para LibreCAD. Algumas atualizações podem ser prestadas pela comunidade Ubuntu.)

But if LibreCAD can be updated to newer and stable versions, please just let me know.

No problem try this;

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:librecad-dev/librecad-stable

This will install the latest stable build PPA instead.

Applying stable versions, repository ppa:librecad-dev/librecad-stable, LibreCAD moved back from version 1.0.1 to version 1.0.0.
With daily, returned to version 1.0.1.

I'm back to the begining...

Ops,
after all that plus rebooting and Update Manager from the dashboard, changes were made.
Now it is:

Version: master
SCM Revision: 2.0.0
Compiler: GNU GCC 4.6.3
Qt Version: 4.8.1
Compiled on: Jan 12 2014

But, remebering,the reason of this post: Using templates and blocks.
At Edit/AppPrefs/Paths, now threr is a new line, called template, with a button beside it.
I'll create this folder and specify its path there.

This folder is intended to have some DXF files. What exactly these files have? Lots of blocks loaded?

Well, why don't you add the daily builds to upgrade to the latest state which is stable, then un-install the daily builds, at least you will get up to date because the latest build is stable!
