all drop down menu boxes have disappeared

Andrew Hoff
When I started using libreCAD v2.2 a week ago I noticed when I clicked on a menu option e.g. File or Edit, the drop down menu boxes would appear further down the page every time I chose any option. I would then click on the dashed line at the top of the drop down menu box and the box would reappear at the top of the page. The drop down menus have now disappeared, presumably somewhere beneath the bottom of the page. How do I get them back? No menu options are currently working/accessible.

Solution: I use fedora 35 &  LibreCAD V2.2.0. I uninstalled libreCAD, deleted the config file ~.config/LibreCAD/LibreCAD.conf and reboot my notebook. I can access all menus again. This is a bug & should be fixed. Please close this incident.

This is described in the manual and depends on the used operating system.
Especially on Linux it also depends on the used window manager, this is nothing we can fix in LibreCAD.
https://docs.librecad.org/en/2.2.0_a/ref/menu.html#main-menu

Usually the dashed line appear in the docked menu and clicking it undocks the menu. This is how it works for me on KDE Linux and Windows. The floating menu then has a close button in the title bar to re-dock it. Also the undocked menus don't disappear from the menu bar, they are still accessible, even when the floating menu is there.

Maybe this happens by accident, e.g. by moving the mouse during clicking? Or do you have a different pointing device which can cause this?

Anyhow, the suggestion from @dellus should solve it without reinstalling.

Maybe the Fedora community has an advice for this behavior.

Thank you. I will use this solution if the problem starts to re-occurs. Please note, I had to uninstall & re-install libreCAD because the drop down boxes had gradually moved down the screen and disappeared. The result made the menu bar effectively useless and your solution could not be implemented. I have never seen drop down menu boxes detach themselves from the top menu bar.

well, if the problem just with detached menu - we can add a quick workaround.

I'll just add a new setting that will define whether menu tearOff is enabled or not. Potentially, that should solve the issue with detached menus - let's see whether it will help.

Problem is trivial. Sand1024's solution is long term, i.e. it will take a while before it ends up in a fedora rpm. Dellus' solution works and takes about 15 seconds to implement, which makes it a good work around. The incident is closed but I thought you may want some tech info. My pc: Version: 2.2.0-alpha <-- libreCAD Compiler: GNU GCC 11.3.1 Compiled on: Sep 24 2022 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Boost Version: 1.76.0 System: Fedora Linux 35 (Workstation Edition) I have also attached two png screenshots which display diiplaced drop down menus.
