drawing lines?

I'm a new attempting user to LC; but have had hours with AC and cartography. I'm used to defining drawing limits(?), but seem to be having problems with scale, and thus defining lines for a simple drawing area of say 40'x60'. Which leads me to the problem of drawing lines.

  I've learned to return or locate 0,0 with zoom in and zoom out. Hoped for additional way as well.

  So actually I've three problems

   Setting Drawing limits

  Scaling

  and line construction.

Have sought help via LC's user group, entry on lines has been deleted.

Downloaded most LC version. Help with any of these would be most helpful.

My efforts are directed at simple line drawings for new shop.
