first installation on Windows 11

fgclodt
here my experiences:
after installing the newest version of Librecad on my Windows system, I was trying to start the application.
First I got a whole bunch of errors, that the program is missing dll-files.
I looked into \Program Files\LibreCAD - and there all the dlls were installed.
But it seems, that LibreCAD cannot find the dlls in its own program directory.
I copied the missing dlls into my \windows\system32 directory.
After that I got a message, that the program cannot find its Qt environment. I found it in \resources\plugins - and copied all files into \program files\LibreCAD.
After that I was able to start the application...
A lot of effort just to start an application...

thank you for your feedback.
However, which version of LibreCAD do you use?
Also, did you install it using the installer or build from sources?

Thanks for sharing.

we are cleaning up the windows installer:

1. Need to switch from minGW to MSVC for 2.2.1;
2. Probably, we need to push for Microsoft Store inclusion. Then, it means a new packager;
3. Our developers are mostly using Linux and mac, so more feedbacks from windows users are welcome.

I run Win11 but I am installing on a system with a previous installation so would be unlikely to see DLL issue identified by OP.

Why?

Could you test the new installer compiled by msvc?

The previous 2.2.1 windows releases were built by minGW, but GitHub has discontinued windows-2019 runners, and windows 2022 runners seem to have issues with minGW with GCC-8.1

https://github.com/LibreCAD/LibreCAD/releases/download/2.2.1.3_rc-latest/LibreCAD-v2.2.1.2-17-g7f9a4dff5-win64-msvc.exe

I've downloaded and installed this version under Win11.
I hope it was clean installation - yet it migth be that I previously installed the version on that machine...

Anyway, in my setup the application started normally. As soon as it was installed, there were no messages about missing dlls on start or later.

However, it seems that there are some issues with paths. It migh be that default paths setttins points to wrong location - due to this, on the first run dialog the list of languages is empty.

Also, all paths values in Application Preferences dialog are empty - I suppose they should contain relative parts to the installation dir?  But it might be that they should be blank indeed...? Just as a note.
