Have used microstation for last 30 years. Just retired. What I need is a program that allows me to insert JPG and trace over it. I have found the insert under file pull down. But cannot get JPG to show up. Just see an empty box. I inserted a pic. of my artwork i create.artwork

Welcome @terryd!

You probably have Draft mode activated.

See https://dokuwiki.librecad.org/doku.php/usage:faq#my_drawing_had_some_hatches_how_can_i_see_them, same applies for images.

Check menu View -> Draft to be unchecked or use shortcut <CTRL>-D to toggle it.

For this job Inkscape is possibly the better tool.
It is free too and it can export DXF in case you want to modify the traced image in LibreCAD or need it for machining.
