"I have bought a new PC, the old one is slated to be used for LinuxCNC."
too easy

"Dang - KMail is lousing up font sizes (from Arial 9 down to Arial 7) and refuses to accept a new size."
:)

I don't use KMail and don't get what you mean by "lousing up" but here is what I found after a quick search:

#"Turned out I had "use fixed width fonts" turned on. (And on my  system they don't contain the required chars.)"

#" i went an read it - and yes, if you use fixed width fonts, you're okay. that's why i didnt see the prob, since i only use fixed-width"

"...was wounded on my system - not so much a program file code corruption as a system config settings/data corruption"
I was also thinking about this (like old config files).

"...earned another encouragement award, stand by."
Yeah would be nice if you could post those three files.

Which version of libdxfrw0 are u using?
Wondering if http://forum.librecad.org/Version-2-0-0rc2-2-g8573398-MacOs-crashing-when-opening-file-tp5708724.html has something to do with your crashes.
