I do not know the answer to the method you choose for copy and past.
The method I choose was to create a separate drawing that had only the elements that I wanted to import (drawing 1) and then import that file into the drawing into which I wanted to import the elements (drawing 2). Each drawing had the same layer names.
I created the separate drawing 1 by making a copy of the file that had the elements I wanted to import, and then stripped out everything I did not want copied. Made sure the elements I wanted from drawing 1 were in the same layer name as the layer name of drawing 2 that I wanted to import into. To create drawing 1, I locked the layer that had the elements I wanted, unlocked all the others, selected all with a selection window and then deleted the selected and unwanted material. Saved that file: drawing 1. Then imported it drawing 1 into the drawing 2, making sure that I was in the layer of drawing 2 that I wanted the elements imported into. It treated the imported file as a block. The rest of drawing 2 was editable.

Hello,
Following your advice I transfered entities C (the colored ones on the right side
of the attached file) to drawing AB that I want to update using C new dimensions.
1- both AB and C drawings were set to 1:1 scale in 'print preview'
(I don't know why but it helps keeping C dimensions values the same after transfer)
2- added an 'importation' layer on the AB drawing stack
3- draw a cross target on the 'importation' layer
4- put layer-0 in non-erasable status
5- used cmd-c / cmd-v
5- landed entities C on the cross target (the importation layer was activated only)
6- entities avoided the importation layer, they all went to layer-0 !
7- dimensions were 1:1 but under rather large and .0000 precision generic characters.
8- clicking 'current drawing prefs' OK, dimensions stretched back to their original size and style
9- whatever I do,
Select all then
Explode in
Modify or
Block,
there is no more access to the entities.
The drawing seems to be a dead image. Only the 90° angle of a contersunk hole
is still active at the upper left of the AB contrribution. Unfortunate as it is, step (6)
is not a game stopper but (9) is.
Would you give me the miraculous hidden key to continue ?
