sorry I never mentioned the version or operating system

Windows 7 pro presently

Version 2.1.3
compiler: GNU GCC 4.9.1

Any how opened up and the screen is back to normal including command line etc.  So we'll see where this goes.  Thanks for all the work that you guys do!!
