The pop-up message is the
Save as ... dialog. Usually
Ctrl-S does not ask anything, just save the current drawing.
When anything fails, LibreCAD asks to save the file with another name or to another location. The reasons for failing are many and varied, and often they can't be identified at runtime.
Canceling the
Save as ... dialog keeps the file untouched and the changes remain unsaved. This is indicated by the
* in the drawing title.
Closing LibreCAD with unsaved files will again show the
Save as ... dialog, if the original file can't be saved. So another chance to avoid the loss of efforts.
Of course, losing efforts is a tough experience, but sometimes it's part of the learning curve.
