Hatch density - darkness

I have a square area I've filled with a hatch (ansi31). It's barely dark enough to be noticeable as hatched. Is there a way to make it darker? The fine lines are as close together as I would want, so maybe density is not the right word. The lines could be a little larger, but I haven't been able to enlarge them.

You can modify the density using the scale value of hatch pop-up window. for hatches, already done, use properties and click on the hatches then hatch pop-up window appears.
To make the lines larger, then you should change the line width of the layer holding the hatches.
Same if you want to change the color of hatches.
