Help! Can't Open File

Hi,
I'm new to the forum.
For some reason I'm unable to properly open a file I've been working on.
It shows up in my folder with a .dxf~
When I open up from Librecad the entire contents are blank with no layers, blocks or anything at all.
Is there a way to fix this?

This is a backup file automatically created. Remove the ~ and it should open.
Also have a look if the original file without the ~ can be found somewhere.
