Lines went to infinity.

Lines went to infinity.

10 posts

On layer Windows all the lines went to infinity, while doing a line parallel to operation on a half inch line. I have the file attached. I tried a refresh and a restart of the application but no improvement. The file is below.

2259-DevonPlace-Kitchen.dxf

Do you see the same thing?

Check in your layers if the 'help layer' is checked.

I don't see a help layer. The layer list and the Layer menu doesn't
mention it. Am I missing something?

AHHH! Found the "help layer" - it was checked and unchecking seemed to fix it - Thanks!

If you have time, could you tell me what the purpose of "help layer" is? I must of clicked it by accident.

Paul,

the help layer allows you to create help lines, they would/should not be part of a printed layer.

They help you to keep things alligned.

I think we spotted a bug though, I have seen one or two other bug reports around this, and once myself.

Same here.

All layers are now marked as "help lines". No matter if I uncheck them and save, next time they'll be "help lines" again.

Any thought?

Lucas,

once a while I did hear about this and I think there is a bug that the layer isn't initialized properly in regards to the help boolean.

Is it possible for you to download from the git master, compile that and see if somebody has been solved it already?

I am asking this because you are still using a alpha version, and a beta has been already out for a while.

Ries,

I've been doing some tests. This behvior desn't happen when you save the file in autocad R12 format.
Also, I've tested the same with it with the windows version (2.0.0beta1) with the same results.

Let me try it again in Ubuntu, but with the beta version.

Ok,

On Ubuntu 12.10 now. Updated LibreCAD to (via ppa):

Version: master
SCM Revision: 2.0.0beta1
Compiled on: Dec 3 2012

(Version: 2.0.0~beta1+yeslib20121201+264864a-0ubuntu0~daily7~quantal1)

The problem persists.

* Create a new file and Draw something (not using layer 0).
* Create second layer as Help Layer"
* Draw a fwe lines.
* Save as... (default DXF 2007)
* Close
* Open it again

Except Layer 0, the rest are marked as "help layer/s".

:(

Hi Lucas:
In LC new drawing
create layer L1 and draw a line in it
create layer L2 with "help layer" marked and draw a line in it
Save as... helptest.dxf (in default DXF 2007)
close helptest.dxf and reopen it

Result: layer 0 & L1 are normal layers and L2 are help layer

Tested in winXP-32b, openSuse-64b & LUbuntu-64b 12.10

that is, work as expected in all tested systems using the last code (Dec 1 2012 )

You can do all the steps and attach the created file?

I think I know what the problem is.

If you open a drawing and only changes the state of the layers, for LC, you did not change the drawing
then click in "File->save" nothing happen

verification: open the file, then cilck in "close" no warning are sown.

Workaround: changes the state of the layers, draw a line, delete it, then close

First of all thanks for your support!!!

I just did what you mentioned.

* Opened a .DXF 2007 file, with all "help layers".
* Corrected the layers that are not supposed to be "help" ones.
* Draw a line.
* Save (with the icon on the toolbar).
* Delete the line.
* Save & Close.
* Open de same file again. All layers are "help layers" except layer 0.

I really don't know what I doing wrong now :(

If the file is corrupt, it showld be restored as I change the layers properties, right?

EDIT: As an example this is one of the files I'm working with --> http://depositfiles.com/files/dvgli7mw1

Tests made with winXP-32b, openSuse-64b & LUbuntu-64b 12.10 using Gear-Small.dxf and same result in all

When Opened with LC all layers are "help layer" except 0
Changed all to NO "help layer"
Draw a line then press ESC to finish command line
Click in undo button to remove line
"File->save as..." saved as Gear-SmallRLZ.dxf
Close LC, reopen LC and Gear-SmallRLZ.dxf
result: all layers are normal layers NO "help layer"

I can not reproduce your problem :-(

Thanks for your time!

Followed your steps, now saving changes with the "save as..." instead just the save button.
Same situation.

I watched the video and you do not make the same steps as me.
I put ALL layers printables (no help layer) and you all except "Gear-Small-Aux"
This is the difference that has allowed me to find the bug
A patch is sent, only wait for a new daily-build (amd64 are queued, i386 ready).

Tip: to change the layer "print state" simply clic in printer icon
