Manual does not match Application

I am completely inexperienced with CAD.  Last week, I downloaded and installed the current version of LibreCAD on my Windows 7 laptop.  Not having any idea where to start, I decided to begin at the beginning of the User Manual and work through it page by page until I was familiar with it.  It didn't take very long at all to get the impression that this manual does not match this version of the application.  However, I find no reference to a version in either the application or the manual.

Very soon after beginning this process, I read:  "Notice at the bottom of the screen you will see the command line. You can actually draw in LibreCAD using commands that you type into this area."  There is no command line at the bottom of my screen, but since I don't need it now, I decided to continue.

Shortly thereafter I am directed to open the Current Drawing Preferences and choose the Paper tab.  Then I read:  "Click Landscape and pull down the size menu and scroll to select letter."  But there is no Size menu in this dialog box.

I see that I can enter the paper width and height, thereby overcoming this discrepancy, but it makes me wonder if using this manual might turn to be a futile exercise in frustration.
