Selection multiple figures results in the selection of many unreleated parts

Hello everyone. Lately I have had the problem of when selecting multiple parts, many unrelated parts will get selected along with what I had manually selected. This selection problem occurs within minutes into my project, as the problem does not present itself in a freshly launched LibreCAD document.

For example: About 5 minutes into this new LibreCAD drawing, I make a selection box around the green objections as shown below:


As soon as I 'Choose the second edge', which I only made around the green objects, other objects are automatically selected along with my selection:


This selection problem first became apparent within the last few weeks. The selection problems used to come around 15-30 minutes into my project. Now, I am having this selection problem within minutes. I have to save and restart LibreCAD to work around this selection problem.
