Move objects from one file to another

oneloosecrank
I've searched this and come across some old threads, but they've not been useful. I've got two documents open in the same window, copied and pasted, 'move'd... and I can't get the objects shifted. Any advice?
Cheers

I recommend trying the installer at the top of this list:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/librecad/files/Windows/NightlyBuilds/master/

It's 2.2.0-alpha,
and there have been some improvements of the copy feature.

1. ctrl+c
2. select reference point
3. switch drawings
4. ctrl+v
5. place

Thanks for the advice, the latest build I can see in both the link to latest version and the Windows folder is 2.1.0. I've installed that and copy/paste hasn't worked and neither does Move.

After trials I have to confirm there is a serious bug about copy and paste. Not only you can't shift but also dimensions are displayed wrong and hatches disappear. After some editing like move / copy in - modify- some properties seem rectified, but not all. Redraw shows no effect. Same in 2.0.10. Haven't tried 2.2 master series yet.

That's a bugger. I've a complex linkage to move over. I'll castigate moving it as a block for the time being.

It worked for all objects when I tested.

LibreCAD-Installer-2.1.0-21-gd5b8b19.exe

The script that makes the installers probably needs to be tweaked, but that's 2.2.0-alpha.
See the 'about window'.

Yes, I can confirm that with the latest master nightly on win xp things seem to be all right now.
It's a pity though, that the otherwise splendid 2.1 release carries this bug. It might have been a mistake not to wait until solstice. Full moon just is not as powerful...

It wasn't a quick bug fix; the feature wasn't written to consider all objects.
A new contributor (Equoda) did significant work enhancing this feature.

2.1 already had a ridiculous amount of changes for a single release;
and I'm satisfied with my alternatives for the QCAD toolbar.

2.0 has crashes, the generation of invalid objects, hundreds of memory leaks,
and can be silently stuck in a plugin's loop after closing.
Due to significant code changes
applying the fixes to the 2.0 branch would mean doubling my effort.

* Select

* Specify reference point    (<== important)
you need to specify point  ( origin drawing )

*change drawing

I just want to add something to sam's answer.
The targeted drawing should be open by the same application/window of the source drawing.
If you run two separate LibreCad app in the same time, the copy & paste between those two drawing won't work.
ps: i only check this in my ubuntu 18.04 machine.

If open drawings in tab mode, you can copy objects between tabs.
