Can't seem to find a way to set offset distance.

If you select offset from the icon (shown on the left side of my screen) you cannot set the offset distance.
icon menu
if you type the letter o in the command line (at the bottom of the screen) you can then set the offset distance.

Using the tool bar icon, you have to select the entities to offset first (then ENTER), then the distance box appear in the tool option bar to modify the distance.
Or select the entities first and then the click the tool bar icon, then the distance box appear immediately.

Look for the hint at the mouse icon in the status bar (bottom).

No idea why the offset tool works different from tool bar and command line and if this is intended.
But that's how it works currently.

It works from the icon. Select the line(s) first, then click the Offset icon, or if you click the icon first, then finish your selection with Enter, then the field for the distance will appear in the Tool Options bar.

If you use o(offset) in the command line, it's like using Line - Offset from the icons.

Funny,isn't it?

Many thanks dellus for pointing this out.
In this case it's an issue with command aliases.
The Line tool is called Parallel (offset) and the command line alias is pa.
So the action for the o command is wrong and should be Modify - Offset possibly?
