HP laptop computer with Windows 11.
Trying to open L.C., the L.C. window appears as a small icon near the L.C.icon in the application bar then immediately quickly moves to the right side of the screen (whilst enlarging) and disappears out of the right side of the screen, as if migrating to a second screen actually not present. Weeks ago I already used LibreCAD without problems using a second screen. Already searched the computer screen settings area. Already restarted the computer. Already uninstalled and reinstalled LibreCAD. Always same behaviour. |
Does it show up in your taskbar as a running program?
Or can you find it in task manager as a running process? I think it's very unlikely to start as minimized. Can you clear settings following https://docs.librecad.org/en/latest/getstart/configure.html
|
Thank you, yes, in the taskbar the Librecad icon is underlined
|
I installed LibreCAD on an old Acer with Windows 7 and it runs regularly.
The problem seems to be in the computer. As soon as I can (a few weeks) I'll connect to the HP the second screen and try again. |
You should first uninstall. Then, clean up all local settings.
It's a general problem for qt apps on windows , and I found a detailed description in Chinese: https://blog.csdn.net/kenfan1647/article/details/121278742 If you cannot follow, try to create a new windows user account, and try again. Likely, your previous saved windows geometry was messed and saved, so reinstallation without cleaning up the user settings doesn't help.

I opened LC and it worked correctly. Repeated many times: always OK.
So problem selfsolved (till next appearing...). Thanks for helping. |
I have new problems.
1)- I begun using Librecad and making a drawing for practicing, starting from an existent .dxf drawing. Many commands work but I can not delete entities. i select some entities, I click the DELET pushbutton in the toolbar, the icon enlights but nothing happens in the drawing. in the bottom of the screen, near the mouse picture, "select to delete" appears; I click the SELECTION POINTER pushbutton: the selected entities deselect. This happens most times. Once in many many times the DELETE works correctly. 2)- Clicking WIDGETS -->TOOL BAR CREATOR after 2 seconds Librecad switches off. Which can be the possible reasons? Thanks in advance. |
Did you compare 2.2.2 with 2.2.1?
For deletion, you can: 1, Select entities; 2, Press Delete key on your keyboard.
|
The DEL hardware pushbutton in the keyboard works! i'll use this one. Thank you.
The LC version I downloaded is 2.2.0.2 I can't find a later one. I will search again. |

On both computers- old acer windows 7 and HP windows 11 – I uninstalled present Librecad and downloaded and installed Librecad 2.2. (what I could find). On both computers same behaviour: L.C. has downloaded and installed apparently well. The L.C. icon appears in the taskbar. Clicking on it a mini screenschot of L.C. (unnamed document) appears just above it.
Clicking on this, the icon disappears but nothing else happens. Trying to open a .dxf drawing with L.C., clicking on the taskbar icon an L.C. miniscreenshot appears showing the drawing. Clicking on it nothing happens same as before. It looks like the dxf drawing is correctly open in L.C. but L.C. does not show on the screen. What puzzles me is that this happens in two different computers. Any suggestions? |
I found and installed Freecad 2.2.1
It opens and at first glance everything works. Thanks for help. |
good morning,
I began using LibreCad and getting familiar with. A new question: I arranged the screen display with a few toolbars, widgets etc. following my needs. How can I save this configuration in order to recover it after having lost it for my fault (guess why I'm asking)? Every time it happens (rather often), i have to spend a long time copying toolbars etc. It would be very good to reload it all in one click. Thanks for suggestions Sandro |
Have a look at local settings:
https://forum.librecad.org/local-settings-td5711509.html You may backup and restore the settings, either by registries (windows), or files(*nix).

One more question: clicking WIDGETS, Tool bar creator. after a 3 seconds delay LibreCad switches off without any saving. The same happens clicking menu creator. Can I fix this?
Thanks Sandro |
Again:
I lost from the screen a few standard toolbars. Clicking Widgets, toolbars, in the appearing manu line, circle, modify, and many others important toolbars are missing. Where can I find them? |
You may try to reset all local settings:
Edit > Applications Preferences > Defaults > Clear Settings
|
As suggested I cleared all settings. Then I could pick and place in position all the toolbars I wanted, I closed L.C. and, on reopening it, it appeared with all the toolbars where they were when switched off.
I opened both Menu and Toolbar Creators and all went well. I think I am happy for the moment. Thank you very much. I'll show up again with my next problem, I hope not so soon but fear not very long. Cheers Sandro |
