hardly manage to get exact dimensions

eduard
Hi there!

I just started using LibreCAD. I constructed a rectangle via the command line. Thus I am sure, that it has the correct sizes. One side for example mesuares 79.5 cm.

When I try to add the dimension by clicking the start point and the end point of this side I hardly get the 79.5 cm but something like 79.44, 79.52 and so on.

I know that I can change the accuracy of the dimension results that are shown to just 1 decimal place but to me that does not seem to be a good solution as that would just hide my measuring mistakes.

Isn't there a way to kind of asking LibreCad to read the lenght of a side? I mean, LibreCad knows the lenght - do I really need to try to measure it manually which is so error-prone? Is there any better way?

Thanks a lot!

Hi Eduard,

Most probaly is a not use of snap.

If you are newbie with LibreCAD read at least these two pages:
http://wiki.librecad.org/index.php/Coordinate_system
http://wiki.librecad.org/index.php/Snapping

Thanks a lot, Rallaz!

I would be happy to have a manual. Thus I will check these two links.

Regarding the manually measuring so far I found out that one can change the result by just keeping the mouse' button down and move the mouse until the expected results are shown. Further more I learnd that it is also possible to change an dimension line later. Both is even easy - if one knows...

Cheers!

Your system require draw - zoom in - grab & move, easy but slow.

If your line is 79.5 length (verify with info->list) draw the dimension with "endpoint snap" to obtain a correct dimension text.

There is "Info → Distance point to point", which displays the measurement as commandline output.
View → Toolbars → Command line
