Version 1 vs. 2 CAD files

Just started with Ubuntu package that was version 1.0 then upgraded to
2.0.4.  When I open drawings that were created under version 1 most of
the text items have disappeared.  Not all the text but just some of the
text items.  It also looks like a box may be substituted for the text.
When I review the .dxf file directly it contains the text items but they
do not display on my screen.

Any suggestion on how to correct issue?
